That window is the day or two before your moving truck shows up. No furniture in the way, no boxes stacked in corners, no mattress leaning against the wall. Every surface is wide open and accessible. The ones that get a proper move-in clean before anything arrives are genuinely easier to maintain from day one. The ones that skip it spend the next six months trying to catch up around furniture they can never quite move.

• Behind and under appliances where possible

Bathrooms

• Scrubbing tile, grout, and shower walls
• Removing hard water deposits from glass, fixtures, and toilet
• Inside vanity cabinets and medicine cabinet
• Vents, light fixtures, and the base of the toilet

Living Areas and Bedrooms

• Baseboards, door frames, and window sills wiped down
• Inside window tracks cleaned out
• Ceiling fans and light fixtures dusted
• Walls spot-cleaned for scuffs and marks
• Closet interiors, including shelving and corners

Floors

• Hard floors swept, mopped, and dried before boxes come in
• Carpet vacuumed, and a note made of any stains to address separately

The Timing Makes Everything Easier

Scheduling a move-in clean for an empty home takes a fraction of the time it would take in a furnished one. There is nothing to work around. A cleaner can get to the back corner of a closet, behind a toilet, and inside every cabinet without shifting anything. That same job in a fully furnished home involves moving items, working in awkward angles, and usually still missing spots. Empty rooms clean faster and cleaner, full stop.

If you are closing on a home in Columbus or the surrounding suburbs, try to book the clean for the day after closing and the day before the movers arrive. Even a one-day gap is enough. If the schedule is tight, the morning of move-in day can still work as long as the cleaners finish before the truck shows up.
